Unlike Most
03:42
|
|||
Humans are made up of habits
which guide our life and shape our hearts
virtues & vices both daily rhythms in my life are
defined by these two types of liturgies
Every morning I wake up, and for my break-of-dawn prayer
I pour the hot water into my aero press
Hands wrapped around a mug, this drink is saying words i can't speak
A prayer lifted up in the steam
and it becomes
(Chorus)
a prayer unlike most
One not said with shut-eyes or folded-hands
But more hands up in surrender, saying,
This is my prayer
To you O God, I give my day
And there are habits
that I don't want to talk about
The ones that I hide beneath my bed
and pray never come out
But I know that there is grace
And there is prayer
And that's why I know that I need
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
And I pray this:
To you oh God I surrender my life
Clean my cup from the inside out
Undo the vices in my heart
Recalibrate my heart to worship you
(Chorus)

You Are
03:33
|
|||
There's a window in my home that lets in the most sunlight
I haven't seen it in a month or so
There's this point that my mom reaches tears of laughter down her face
When all of us come together
I've been missing & I've been crying
Longing to run back to my home
But I've been growing & I've been learning
That home is everything you are
(Chorus)
You are light &
You are warmth &
You are life
& the goodness of home is you
You are pure &
You are a refuge &
You are renewing &
The goodness of home is you
So when I say it feels like home here
I mean that it is clear to me
You are here in these people in these places
And I get a glimpse of the home you're making for me
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
And I know that you are making a place for me
That is much more home than here could ever be
So I can steward this homesickness this longing for you
And have faith in the promises you've made
(Chorus)

Birch & Barton
03:11
|
|||
Lisa just moved from out of town into a new apartment she's a little scared of her landlord cause he said some creepy things but she can’t afford to live anywhere else in the city so she stays where she is
She showed me pictures of her kids and talked about how proud she is to be the mother of such a beautiful son and daughter
And fed her dog her leftover hot chocolate, talked to him like he was one of her own
Chorus
She is faithful in a way I don't quite recognize
Outside those four church walls - what is that like?
And when life knocks her down to the ground
She gets back up and smacks it with a laugh in her eyes
Eric doesn't have the time to work a full time job he spends most of his days taking care of his mom whos sick
And told us he most likely wouldn't have another conversation with anybody for another few weeks
But when he spoke his eyes they sparkled, giggling at the smallest things, and finding the joy in the midst of everything
Despite how his whole family told him to leave her years ago, he still tackles each day as if it's a brand new chance to make it count
(Chorus but with ’He’)
(Bridge)
and it’s in them i see
what was meant to be
when God created man
image bearers
Reflections of
His perfect (and) good plan
(Chorus with ‘They’)

The Valley
04:13
|
|||
How did I get here again?
Travelling a road I've been down before
Chilly, dark, and cold
This valley of the shadow of death
And as I walk all that I can see
Are my addictions yelling and pointing at me
Saying "you will not escape, you will not have grace"
And I forget how to breathe
(Chorus)
But suddenly
A voice, it calls to me
"You are mine, and I will keep you safe"
Suddenly everything is green pastures
And even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil
Suddenly
You're right there next to me
Once again i find myself
Knowing full well who my shepherd is
Repeating the same destructive desire
Unable to keep to the promises I made
(Chorus with ‘quiet waters’)
You know me, and you love me
Too much to leave me as I am
Surely your goodness and mercy will follow me
And you will stay there next to me

Sabbath Song
03:30
|
|||
Heads bowed, eyes down
hands lifted upwards
On my knees
When I was young my sister would choose my Sunday clothes for me
Fresh baked apple pancake filling the house
Church was a time to sit in a pew and wait for my cue to go to Sunday school
It was a time of fellowship, family and imaginary games
(Chorus A)
It's time to rest now,
Slow down today
Fall into his arms
I choose my own Sunday clothes now
I can’t attempt to bake, so cereal is the new norm
Church today has turned into soaking in the Word, mug and pen in hand
it’s still a day of fellowship, family and time away from work
(Chorus B)
Bow your head now,
Bring glory to our King
Let go of yourself
(Bridge)
Let this God-given day bring you much-needed rest, let His presence overwhelm you with his all-encompassing peace
(Chorus A+B)
